Kendrick to the DL….. Options

Apr 19th, 2007 by winabango

After a great start to the year, Howie Kendrick has now been placed on the DL with a broken finger.  Unfortunately for me, I have him in 2 leagues.  So I was looking at some players that are available to serve as a replacement.  Here are some players that may be available for you to pickup:

  • Kelly Johnson - ATL - Don’t let his batting average scare you.  As I said the other day, his contact rate is excellent, and his walk rate is outstanding.  He went 2 for 3 today with a walk.
  • Marcus Giles - SD - He extended his hitting streak today, and is playing very solid.  He leads off for a San Diego offense that si playing quite well right now.
  • Placido Polanco - DET - Could he be this year’s surprise batting champion?  Hits in a great lineup, and is hitting .381 this year.  Now if he could add power and some steals, he would be a stud.

All three of these players would be solid serviceable replacements for an injured Kendrick.  In one league I took Johnson, and Giles in the other.  We will see how it works out over the next month.

I depends on what your team needs. It is a fair value trade. Peavy and CC are about the same. Sizemore is an slight upgrade from Jones. Do you need speed over power? That is the key to making this trade.
