The Short Picks - Week 4
Apr 22nd, 2007 by winabango
Well here we are at week 4, and what a weekend of great baseball. I awoke to find out that Martin hit a grand slam to win the game, and i have him in 2 leagues. Those are the nice surprises to find the next day. But enough with looking back, let’s look ahead to week 4.
The entire American League, Houston, and Philly have 7 games this week.
- Eric Chavez, 3B - OAK - I know that Chavez is not available in most deep leagues, but he is available in 2 of my shallow leagues. He has been relatively quite this year, but Oakland faces Baltimore, Seattle, and Tampa Bay. The best pitcher that he will face this week is Kazmir, and that is not until Sunday.
- Shane Victorino, OF - PHI - It still boggles my mind that Victorino is still available in most deep leagues. He has hit .364 with 3 stolen bases over the last week, and all 7 games are at home this week. Another good pick from the Phillies would be Aaron Rowand.
- Jason Tyner, OF - MIN - If you are need of some speed, this my be a good selection. He hit .368 over the last week, and good speed. Another solid pick from Minnesota would be Nick Punto, who also has hit over .300 over the last week.
Here are some solid 2-start pitchers for this week
- Derek Lowe (SF, @SD) - Faces two solid, but not overly scary teams. One of his starts is also in the pitcher friendly San Diego.
- Randy Johnson (SD, SF) - Same two teams that Lowe faces, but in a more offensive ballpark. However, Johnson has been looking great in his rehab starts, and is pumped up to return to Arizona.
- John Maine (COL, @WAS) - Two starts in pitcher friendly ballparks, and the Mets offense has been unstoppable. He should be able to get 2 wins this week if he pitches solid outings.
Good luck to all this week.
