The week that was week 3

Apr 23rd, 2007 by winabango

I am not sure that I have even seen a crazier start to the season as I have this year. Can’t miss players sucking, and Hamilton coming out of no where. Hopefully after Howard and Pujols hit their homeruns on Sunday, all will return to normal. But most likely it will not.

I take my picks that I post here each week very seriously. I will pat myself on the back when i get it right (Kelly Johnson) and say that I screwed up when I get them wrong (Matt Diaz).

So let’s take a look at some of the picks that I made for last week.

The, I nailed this one:

  • Ok, so no one can be put here. This is one of those weeks that all I can say is I am sorry. Can I at least get Credit for Kelly Johnson and his 2 homeruns he hit on Sunday?

The serviceable:

  • Ryan Garko - not a good average (.133), but he did hit a 3 run HR on Saturday. Cleveland as a whole team needs to step it up. That means you Mr. Barfield!
  • Brad Hawpe - Hit .263 last week with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. Not bad for a week, but I just wish he could hit for some power.
  • Edgar Gonzalez - He almost out dueled Barry Zito over the weekend. He had no wins this past week, but pitched just over 13 innings with 11 K’s and only 2 walks.
  • Anthony Reyes - Another one with 2 loses for the week, but still had decent outings that did not kill anyones team. He pitch 11 innings, and only gave up 7 earned runs and struck out 7 while only walking 3.

The, What was I smoking:

  • Matt Diaz - Well Langerhaus still has not done anything. In fact he is begging to be sent down or cut from the team. As for Diaz last week, he hit a terrible .059 with only 2 runs scored.
  • Chuck James - Had 2 loses with only 6 K’s, and gave up 15 hits. The good news, he only walked 4.

I will continue to try to find good matchups for the week. Sometimes I will get them right. Other times I will have a week like this past one.

Here is an update to where I stand in my 4 leagues

8-Team H2H - tied for 4th
14-team H2H - moved up to 11th
7-team roto - moved into 2nd
12-team roto - 1st place, for right now

Remember that I am available on AOL IM (winabango) for live help.
