Here we go again…
Another big debut of a huge pitching prospect has come. In case you have been living under a rock, or trying to sleep with a newborn, Tim Lincecum is making his debut on Sunday night in prime time. So why all the buzz about him? Here are his minor league stats from this year:
4 wins - 0.29 ERA - 46 Ks - 11 BB in 31 innings pitched
Those are some dominating numbers. I have been asked by many of you if he is worth picking up. The answer is; yes he is. He is especially valuable in deep Keeper leagues. There is a lot of buzz created about him, but keep in mind that he is only 23 and has only 8 professional starts before this year. Grant it, they have also been dominating.
I told you so…
Well what do you know, Brett Myers is the closer in Philly. Tom Gordon has been placed on the DL with a shoulder problem. He probably hurt it while leaning on his walker the other day. So in steps Brett Myers, and he got a save last night. If you have not already attempted to get him, shame on you. If you are like me, you made an effort but always lost out, oh well. I actually lost out on him in two leagues in a waiver wire priority battle. In fact, I actually had the 4th waiver wire priority in one league and still lost out.
i was impressed with lincecum but he really needs to develop some other pitches. A fastball just isnt enuf in the bigs
I thought that he did fine against a good Philly offense. Two things bothered me though. He was throwing 97 during the first 2 innings, but by the 5th, he was only throwing low 90’s. His off speed stuff just didn’t look that good, especially the command of the curveball.
