Rich Harden the closer?
Jun 5th, 2007 by winabango
Reports are beginning to surface that Rich Harden will return to the A’s in a few weeks, but it will be in the bullpen. It seems that they are doing that to get him into games quicker instead of sending him out for rehab starts. With Street and Duchscherer on the DL this makes perfect sense. From what I understand, Street cannot even straighten out his pitching arm yet. Last I checked, that is not good.
Here are two links to the information: CBS Sportsline and Rotoworld
This news will have a huge effect on owners of Rich Harden (which includes me). It feels just like the conversion of Brett Myers to the closer roll. The Phillies did it so that Myers could “work on his mechanics,” and you know where that ended up going. Now Harden is possibly going to the bullpen so that he can “get back quicker”. This is a huge situation that will be monitored very closely.
Just wanted to pass along the information.
