Buy Low Candidates

Everyone talks about players being second half players and that they can make the difference in your league. Here are some players that would be considered “buy low” candidates that should help any team over the second half of the season.
Jason Bay is playing terrible of late, but is he has been very inconsistent over the last few seasons. He seems to be showing the same tendencies this year. He was more consistent in 2005, but even posted a .258 batting average in July, which was sandwiched around months where he posted a .337 and .317. So his current slump is not unprecedented for a month. Well, maybe a .176 batting average this past June is pushing it. I think that even the most casual owner knows that he will raise his batting average over the next few months.
Brian McCann has been dealing with injuries much of the season, and is dealing with a sprained knee. Keep in mind, he was on the DL last year in the middle of the season, and then returned to crush 19 of his homeruns in the second half of the season. He has been posting a 21.5 LD% and a BABIP of .281 this year. He posted a LD% of 21.5% last year, which means that he is still hitting pretty well.
Rafael Furcal is starting to pick up the pace as of late. He finally hit a homerun the other day, and he is a notorious second half player. The only concern that I have is the injury that he suffered earlier this year. He says that it is still bothering him, and that maybe one of the answers for his lack of steals. I think an impatient Pierre has more to do with that though. Look for him to hit for a solid batting average during the second half.
Travis Hafner is as strong of a power hitter that there is in the game, but now may be your opportunity to get him fairly cheap. He is currently carrying a .259 batting average, but has yet to have a season average below .305 in the last three years. I bet he hits 25-30 homeruns the rest of the season, and ends up with around 40 for the season. His walk rate is the same as last year, and his strikeout rate is actually down this year. Get him while you can.
Those are some very big names that could be had on the cheap, and should dominate during the second half.
