Put These players On Your Radar…

There are two rumored call-ups that should happen for this weekend series, and I think they should be watched closely.
Lasting Milledge - NYM, OF - Lastings is being called up for the next few weeks to fill the gap left by the Gomez injury in New York. I am not sure how long he will play everyday, but until Alou shows up, or Gomez returns, Milledge has a rosters spot. Keep in mind that Lastings is recovering from a foot injury that has him out of the lineup for the last 2 1/2 months. He will most likely hit at the tail end of the lineup, but he should get some RBI opportunities there. He also has decent power and speed, and can usually hit for a solid average. I personally think that the Mets are showcasing their top prospect in the majors for a possible trade later this month. For the time being, he needs to be owned in NL-Only and very deep Mixed Leagues.
Adam Jones - SEA, OF - Lastings Milledge may get more of the press about call-ups, but Adam Jones should be the better player for fantasy owners this year. He is the Mariners top prospect, and has power to burn mixed with some speed. He should start everyday in right field, which will be an improvement in defense and offense over what the Mariners are doing now. Adam Jones has posted an impressive stat line (.377/.585/.963) in Triple-A this year. Add in the 21 homeruns, and the 5 stolen bases, and you have a very useful players. The down Side? His strikeout rate is generally pretty high. He has 86 strikeouts to only 28 walks (.33 BB/K), and posted a 29.7% strikeout rate during last years call-up. If he can post a .280 batting average with 10-15 homeruns during the second half, Jones will be a great addition to teams in any format. I don’t know that he can post a .280 average with the strikeout rate that he carries. With the current available stats, he is a must in AL-Only and very deep Mixed, but should be on everyones radar.
Both of these players have a chance to stick with the team during the second half of the season, especially Jones.
