The final short day - Thursday

Sep 25th, 2007 by winabango

With the final short day of the Fantasy Baseball season now upon us, you should bolster your lineup with position players as much as possible.  However, if you are in desperate need of pitching there are a few pitchers worth taking a look at.

Phil Hughes - NYY vs TB - With the Rocket missing his start, Phil Hughes gets the call.  The strikeout happy Devil Rays should help Hughes confidence.  He is facing Scott Kazmir who is on a very restrictive 100 pitch count.  That means the fantastic Yankee offense should get into the Devil Ray’s bullpen earlier then normal.  And we all know how bad they are.

Franklin Morales - COL vs LAD - Morales is a solid young pitcher who is facing a weak home run hitting offense.  His opponent is Esteban Loaiza, who has struggled in his last three outings with an 11.25 ERA.  With the return of Matt Holliday looming, the Colorado offense is as strong as any team in the league.

There are several other pitchers that have bad matchups, and so make sure you have your offense completely filled before taking a weak pitcher in a bad matchup.
