2008 Team Options

Oct 31st, 2007 by winabango

I have updated the 2008 MLB Free Agents page with the two club options that were exercised, and my perceived fantasy value for those players in 2008.

On a free agent note, www.mlbtraderumors.com is THE best site for free agent rumors. Also for those of your who know what these are, the Elias Rankings have been posted on USA Today’s website. Here are the Links:

NL Elias Rankings
AL Elias Rankings

At Least the Phillies will get a sandwich pick for the crappy season they got from Freddy Garcia this past season.

I know these rankings look at the past 2 seasons but shouldn’t A-Rod be higher up among infielders.
    1 Michael Young 89.286 A
    2 Miguel Tejada 87.500 A
    3 Robinson Cano 85.714 A
    4 Derek Jeter 85.119 A
    5 Mike Lowell 84.857 A
    6 Alex Rodriguez 84.000 A
    7 Placido Polanco 81.746 A
    8 Brian Roberts 80.159 A
    9 Orlando Cabrera 79.464 A
    10 Jhonny Peralta 77.381 A

I would have thought that as well, but Michael Young has been a more consistent performer over the last couple of seasons. Also keep in mind that these rankings including fielding ability, and many other factors that are not generally included in fantasy baseball stats.

I was surprised that Freddy Garcia still qualified as a group B player. I thought for sure that last season was the worst possible performance from him.
