2008 MLB Free Agents and other notes
Nov 10th, 2007 by winabango
I have updated the 2008 MLB free agents page with the latest signings.
One other signing that I want to comment on is the resigning of Brad Ausmus by the Astros. This is not a major signing by any means, but there is some fantasy impact related to the signing. Ausmus is not a catcher that anyone will have on their roster, but the Astros’ top catching prospect J.R. Towels’ fantasy value changes. I personally think that Ausmus will get the majority of the playing time early in the season. As the season rolls on, Towels will most likely get more time. I do not see either of these catchers as good fantasy options at the start of the season.
The Phillies signed J.C. Romero to a three year deal today. This doesn’t impact anyone unless holds are a category in your league. Maybe Manuel has figured out how to use him, but his walk rate concerns me greatly. However, he can pitch just about everyday, and it only takes one batter retired to get a hold.
On a side note, I have all the participants lined up for the 2008 Fantasy Baseball mock draft. The draft will be beginning on November 23rd, and you can follow along here on the site. Check back here tomorrow to see the draft order and the home page for the draft.
