Francisco Cordero to the Reds?

Yes, it is true. The Reds have signed Francisco Cordero. I believe that Cordero’s fantasy value has dropped with this signing. The Reds do not have a strong enough pitching staff to get to Cordero on a regular basis. I am presuming that David Weathers will move into the setup role. Once again, the greatest fantasy impact has to do with the aftermath of the signing. Now a new closer will be on the fantasy radar. According to depth charts, currently Derrick Turnbow or Guillermo Mota will get the saves chances. I personally think that the Brewers will go after Eric Gagne next. Here are some of the players stats from last year:
Francisco Cordero - 2.98 ERA, 12.22 K/9, 4.78 K/BB, and 73.4% Left on base
David Weathers - 3.59 ERA, 5.56 K/9, 1.78 K/BB, and 70.7% left on base
Eric Gagne - 3.81 ERA, 8.83 K/9, 2.43 K/BB, and 73.4% left on base
Derrick Turnbow - 4.63 ERA, 11.12 K/9, 1.83 K/BB, and 64.8% left on base
Cordero was the best of the group, but Gagne’s stats are very close. Gagne will cost the Brewers a lot less then Cordero would have. Turnbow has a great strikeout rate, but his command is way off and will prove to be too risky. The Reds upgraded slightly while the Brewers are no hurting for someone better to close out games.
Watch the Brewers very closely now.
