2008 Multiple Position Eligibility
Jan 21st, 2008 by winabango
One of the main questions that Fantasy Baseball owners ask each year involves multiple position eligibility for players. I have completed a spreadsheet that will answer all of your questions. I have complied the list of players that have multiple position eligibility for 5, 10, and 20 games played. I have also included what positions they are eligible for at each minimum games played level. As they often say, why do the work when someone else already has. You can download the file here:

Along the same lines, here is a list of players who are considered to be a DH for the 2008 season. next to their name I have included the additional positions that they will gain dependent upon whether your league has a 5 or 10 game minimum eligibility rule.
- Jason Giambi - Gains 1B where 5 and 10 games played is the minimum
- David Ortiz - Gains 1B where 5 games played is the minimum
- Travis Hafner - Gains 1B where 5 and 10 games played is the minimum
- Gary Sheffield - Gains OF where 5 and 10 games played is the minimum
- Billy Butler - Gains 1B and OF where 5 game played is the minimum
- He also had 1B, but loses OF, where 10 games is the minimum
- Jose Vidro - Gains 1B and 2B where 5 and 10 games played is the minimum
Not the anyone would actually draft Jose Vidro, but it interesting to know that he gains more positions depending on your league settings. Also, Frank Thomas and Jim Thome will only have DH eligibility regardless of format.
The following players may stand to gain additional positions after the start of the season.
- Akinori Iwamura - 2B - As of now, Iwamura is being moved to 2B to make room for the Rays top prospect Evan Longoria who will play 3rd base.
- Ryan Braun - OF - A move to Left Field may be in order for Braun. I guess Braun’s defense is that much of a concern.
- Bill Hall - 3B - With the addition of Mike Cameron, Hall may be moved to 3B if Braun does indeed go to the outfield.
- Ian Stewart - 2B - the Rockies top prospect has his natural position blocked by Garrett Atkins. however, he has begun to play 2B in winter ball, and is adjusting well.
Keep an eye on many of these players, and good luck.

Awesome resource. Thanks!
