Brett Myers Sent to Triple-A

Today’s big news was in the world of the Phillies as they have designated Brett Myers to the Triple-A Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. This, of course, is a big deal to many owners who invested somewhat high draft picks this year on Myers. Unlike last year’s move to the bullpen, his current demotion has immediate impact to fantasy owners. As a Phillies’ fan, I am personally happy with this move. It’ll give him time to get his confidence back, and having him pitching well for the stretch run is key. The best part for me… I can drive down the road and see his Triple A start on Wednesday night.
However, as an owner of Myers in three leagues, this hurts a ton. My first reaction is to drop him, but I think that more depends on your league size and current roster needs. I think in a shallow league he can be dropped, especially if it is a H2H league. In deeper leagues, I think it would be wise to hang on to him for now. That is unless you have do not have room, because of all of the recent injuries. By the way, the Phillies are promoting left-hander J.A. Happ, who has been pitching very well this season. He may be worth a flyer depending on the match up.
Needless to say, this will be a situation that will need to be monitored closely.
