2008 MLB Futures Game Rosters
Jul 12th, 2008 by winabango
In preparation of our coverage of the Futures Game, I thought that I would list the rosters of the two teams participating and offer a few thoughts about them.
Let’s first take a look at the U.S. team:
There are some great names listed here. Trevor Cahill and Casey Weathers are the two pitchers that jump off the page to me. Cahill has been moving up the ranks this year, and Weathers is the closer of the future in Colorado. Matt LaPorta is the power hitter that was just traded to Cleveland, and may make a solid contribution in September. Another player that may make an impact this year is Andrew McCutchen.
Here is the World Team roster:
The name that tops this list is (at least in my little world) is Carlos Carrasco, who is the top prospect in the Phillies organization. Seriously though, Elvis Andrus, Fernando Martinez and Gerardo Parra are the names that I notice as possible impacts within the next two years.
Don’t forget to stop by the site on Sunday beginning at 12:00 for a live blog revolving around the MLB Futures Game.
